Bradley Young (born 20 July 1988) is an Australian ice hockey player currently playing for the Gold Coast Blue Tongues in the Australian Ice Hockey League.

Playing career

Young first played for the West Coast Avalanche of the Western Australian Ice Hockey Association in 2006.[1] He continued to play for the Avalanche until the end of the 2009 season.[2] After the end of the season Young moved to Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia and joined the Gold Coast Blue Tongues of the Australian Ice Hockey League.[2] During his first season with the Blue Tongues Young played 18 games, scoring four points and 42 penalties in minutes.[2] In February 2011 it was announced that the Blue Tongues had re-signed Young for the 2011 season.[3] He has also previously represented Western Australia in state competition.[4]

Young was first called up to represent Australia in 2006 where he joined the national under-20 team to compete in the 2007 IIHF World U20 Championship Division II Group A tournament being held in Miercurea-Ciuc, Romania.[5] Australia lost the tournament and were relegated to Division III for the following year.[5] Young was selected the following year to represent the national under-20 team at the 2008 IIHF World U20 Championship Division III where he competed in all six games and finished with five points.[6] In 2009 Young moved up to the national senior team to compete in the 2009 IIHF World Championship Division I Group A tournament being held in Vilnius, Lithuania. Australia lost the tournament and were relegated to Division II for the following year.[7]

Personal life

Young was born on 20 July 1988 in Perth, Western Australia, Australia.[2] He first started playing ice hockey at the age of five.[4]
